Gunboat Charlie Chavez, the world's most notorious arms trafficker, is back on the radar. MI6 must keep tabs, but with no field operatives available, they send IT Support Officer Bristo Trabant.
His mission: go to Cannes and report back who Gunboat is meeting.
'But, sir ...' pleaded Trabant.
'No time for "buts", Trabant,' replied The head of MI6. 'Oh, and remember - whatever you do, don't ...'
'Don't what?'
But it's a dark and dangerous world, of seductive hostesses and razor-toothed assassins. Trabant tries to keep a low profile, but then it happens - just one wrong word, uttered at precisely the wrong moment, sets off a chain of events so severe it threatens the very stability of the British government. Only the most ingenious strategy can possibly save the day. But first - Trabant must somehow stay alive.
From Pimlico to Panama City, via the French Riviera, join Bristo on his debut mission. Life-threatening card games, life-changing romance. It's a hilarious read, but in the most deadly of worlds.
The question is - when you're a dead man, is there nothing left to lose?

It says on the cover: “The best book about the Art of Course Spying you will ever read.” I agree. Bristo Trabant is out of his depth, but it is MI6 who are to blame as the plot inevitably thickens. A great debut with all the necessary ingredients: fast cars, even faster women, murderous assassins and uber-villains. And, of course, don’t forget the talking sharks! A terrific holiday read. Go on – treat yourself.

Bristo Trabant, seconded from the MI6 IT Department, is thrown headfirst into a mission to spy on notorious arms trafficker Gunboat Charlie. His brief: maintain surveillance until replaced. This book is a delightful, breath-of-fresh-air take on British espionage, with hilarious scenes, sparkling locations, and a strong-enough hint of ‘real-life’ to give the plot a nagging edge of reality. And Gunboat Charlie surely warrants a place in the underworld’s all-time hall of fame.

Bought this book for my summer holiday. Read it before we even boarded the plane. It's very funny, and written with vivid imagination and clearly infinite research. Would highly recommend it.
